Strategic Seat & Back Design
Resilient Seat Comfort Foam + Integrated Lumbar Support
Run 2’s seat is sculpted of a proprietary comfort foam multi-density level process incorporating balance technology directly in the cushioning of the seat. This resilient foam is injected directly into an engineered mold at controlled rates at different levels of release, which creates strategic, multi-density levels within each cushion. This process builds a subtle seat contour that maximizes support exactly where it is needed—where body weight is most concentrated. The outer edges by contrast, are made softer and in a waterfall slope so that the seat does not restrict circulation where the legs extend out over the edge of the seat.
Immediate Back Support Built into the Design
Run 2’s back was designed with the sitter’s body in mind. It delivers a 4-way stretch elastomeric mesh technology that allows the mesh to give and provide just the right amount of support as you move against it. This high-performance mesh is hand-pressed and secured seamlessly into the back by artisans who advance through several training levels to be approved to assemble the Run II mesh. The complex mesh pairs with a unique and intentional back bend designed to mimic and support the natural curve of the spine. The combination is a perfect, back supporting sit.
Advanced Foam Makeup
Every Run 2 seat has 2 key elements in its foam makeup; it is “Closed-Cell” and “Cold Cured”. Closed-Cell refers to the fact that the foam has a smooth outer skin that is gentle on fabric. It does not rasp on the upholstery from the inside like traditional sheet foam. Further, the foam does not absorb moisture. The Closed-Cell nature protects the foam over-time and it does not break down. Cold-Cured refers to the consistency in size of the air cells within the foam. The foam of every Run 2 seat is one single, contoured and resilient piece.
Expertly Tested Foam
Run 2 seat foam faces a resistance factor test and measurement of density to assess the durability and quality of the foam. Density/volume weight gives an indication of the foam’s ability to resist weight and not “bottom out”. Good foam must provide resistance in direct proportion to the amount of pressure applied. This unit of measurement does not necessarily translate into hardness but rather the feeling of support you receive when you sit on the foam. The Run 2 seat foam has an average density or volume of 3 pounds per cubic foot (48 kg/m3). Standard sheet or flat foam, by comparison, has a single volume weight between 1.9-2.25 pounds per cubic foot (30 to 40 kg/m3). The greater density of the Run 2 seat makes it optimal for lasting at home working & learning use.

Run 2 achieves the BIFMA e3-2019 Furniture Sustainability Standard for LEVEL® 2 Certification for both ANSI/BIFMA X5.1 General-Purpose Office Chairs & ANSI/BIFMA X5.11 General-Purpose Large Occupant Office Chairs. It is rigorously tested for conformance to ANSI/ BIFMA e3 standard credits 7.6.1, 7.6.2 and/or credit 7.6.3, which includes California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Standard Method v1.2 01350 (2017), as well as conformance to low-emitting materials for WELL and LEED. Further, Run 2 was developed & is continuously improved by Via Seating’s Studio V engineers & designers who use their ISO 17025:2017 and 3D printer to custom craft Via Seating’s superior ergonomic seating.
